Area C Meeting

All are invited to come early to socialize and browse our "donations table" that is chalked full of fabric, patterns, and all things quilting! Guests are greeted and asked to sign the guest book before the meeting starts! You can expect to hear about the latest guild news, local quilting events and community service projects. Members and guests are always share their lovely quilting projects during show-and-tell! No meeting is complete until a quilter or artisan shares their knowledge about quilting through a program or demonstration!

WNCQG Board Meeting

The Western North Carolina Quilters Guild board meeting is open to all members. This meeting is a leadership meeting for guild officers to discuss guild business.  Voting members of the board include the following positions: president, vice president, treasurer, secretary, and representatives from Areas A, B, C, and D. Individuals holding chairperson positions are invited to participate.  This meeting is also open to guild members who wish to attend.

Quilts of Valor

Come and sew with us each month to make quilts for our veterans. Bring your machine, or help cut and press. We sew and chat all day, and love to have new potential members visit.

Celebrate the months with a 5^th Tuesday by joining Area C for a sew-in. Bring your sewing machine, notions, and unfinished projects to sew and socialize! All are welcome to join the fun!

All are welcome to attend a fun-filled day of quilting. The day starts with a sew-in from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Bring your sewing machine and projects to work on. Socialize while you sew! Don't forget to bring your lunch or munchies!

The official meeting starts at 1:00 pm. During the meeting you will hear about the latest updates from the guild, local quilting news, share your latest projects during show-and-tell, and learn something new when a local quilter or artisan presents a short program. 

MEMBER SHOWCASE

The MEMBER SHOWCASE offers us an opportunity to put a spotlight on several of the guild's talented quilters. You won't want to miss this program. Each of these outstanding fiber artists will speak about their quilting background and history, including telling us about "the quilt you have always wanted to make, but haven't yet."

Our three speakers are each creative and talented quilters and designers, and will present a great variety of techniques and styes. Included in this group are individuals who have been long-term members and one who is relatively new to the guild. Their quilts have been hanging, usually with a ribbon on them, at many WNCQG annual shows, as well as at other important venues. Don't miss this opportunity to be inspired by these quilt makers and to get to know them personally!

All members, guests, and curious quilters are invited to attend guild meetings. The business meetings starts promptly at 10:00 am. For a special treat arrive 30 minutes early to shop the "rehome" table for quilting treasures!

Meet Alicia Thomas, Executive Director, and learn more about the collections and activities of the Virginia Quilt Museum.

Located in the historic Silver Lake Mill in Dayton, Virgina, the museum celebrates the rich heritage of quilting in Virginia. Nestled in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley, the museum promotes a unique blend of art and cultural heritage. Historical, modern, art, and traditional quilts are featured simultaneously, allowing visitors the opportunity to explore the variety of styles, techniques, themes, and artistry found in quilts. 

In addition to exhibits, the museum offers classes, lectures on historical quilts, and workshops. The museum also welcome groups for a special tour. Perhaps an idea for a future field trip!

Maker's Medley Fast Track

6 Experts. 6 Techniques. Sharing and Learning!

Put on your walking shoes!

The Maker's Medley Fast Track program will feature six of our talented members showcasing various quilting-related techniques. Here is the workout format:

1. Participants will be divided into six groups.
2. The course will be six tables with seating at each.
3. Each group will be assigned its first table.
4. At the starting bell, there will be a 12-minute general overview of the technique at the table.
5. Upon the next bell, each group will move to the next table on the right,  (i.e. 1 → 2; 2 → 3; 6 → 1).
6. Repeat Step 5 until each group has visited each table.

Meet Audra Rasnake - Award-Winning Hand Quilt-Maker

Audra Rasnake is a fourth-generation quilter and grew up literally under a quilt frame. She's been hand quilting for more than 30 years and has been doing needle turn applique for 20 years. She considers herself a traditional quilter and has a passion for sharing needle turn applique and hand quilting, as she wants this incredible art form to have a revival.

Audra has won multiple AQS ribbons for her hand quilting. One of her greatest passions is folded cutwork. She uses applique in every quilt she makes. Audra enjoys helping beginners overcome their fear of the dreaded "A" word.

There will be an afternoon workshop after the meeting from 1:00 to 4:00.
